Payroll and RTI
What Fyling does and does not do
Fyling works out a pay run for a client company, makes a payslip for each employee, and makes the P60 and P45 as PDFs from the pay you approved.
Your practice sends the reports to HMRC under the client company's own Government Gateway login. Fyling does not file for you, and does not tell you what pay to give anyone.
What RTI is
Real Time Information means telling HMRC about pay and deductions each time you pay people, not once a year. The main report is the Full Payment Submission (FPS), sent on or before the day employees are paid. The Employer Payment Summary (EPS) is the smaller report for things like a month with no payments.

Run a pay run
- Open Payroll and choose the company. Under Setup, enter the HMRC references the company's payroll is sent under.
- Under Employees, add each person. A new starter with a P45 from this tax year can have its three figures entered.
- Choose New pay run, pick the pay period and payment date, and enter each person's pay.
- Check the working and approve the run. Approved figures are frozen, so a payslip never changes afterwards.
- On the Submit to HMRC page, send the Full Payment Submission.
Quick start gives a shorter route for a company with its first pay run.
Payslips
Once a run is approved, each employee has a payslip you can download as a PDF from the pay run page. Employers must give employees a payslip on or before payday.

P60 and P45
The Year end page lists each employee. A P60 is the summary of pay and tax for the tax year, which an employer must give to everyone employed on 5 April by 31 May. A P45 is given to someone who leaves. Fyling makes both from approved pay, with pay from a P45 or earlier software added where you entered it.

History
Pay run history lists every run for the company, so you can see what was approved and what was sent to HMRC.
HMRC's answer
Each report shows HMRC's response on the pay run. If HMRC rejects one, read its reason before sending again.
